Normally my lists begin with a question - this time being "What kills C'tan effectively" then working back from their. Whilst this list was mostly a teams list idea a combination of it working really well last week and exhaustion kept it the same for singles. What I wanted from a list was either something damage number so big it could threaten C'tan (which Chaos doesn't have a lot of in effective form but Blight-Haulers melta have to be respected at worst case scenario) or something damage 1 with re-rolls. Hence Blightlords and in particular their shooting output, an easy unit that fits my personal style (big tough brawly unit) and bolted onto a pretty standard Vectorium frame that went as wide on Drones as possible to help give as many tools as possible to counteract the 2 big hammers taking up all the points (Deathshroud and Blightlords.) Death Guard counter attacking and surrounding Deathwing Knights with bodies and bullets. My DG list, no funny/interesting na...
Probably a sign your teams doing pretty well when you ending fighting two Vanguard tactics team in a weekend! So this meta's interesting isn't it. Not as bad as last summers Knights meta for sure but certainly a bit of 'you must be this tall to ride' to deal with Victrix/C'Tan/Dorns/Lord of Changes/multiple Land Raiders. DG felt like a really good answer without going 'all in' on something and whilst they don't necessarily feel favoured into any of above, they don't feel like they can't win either. As such they don't feel the need to skew really hard into something that then gets blown out by something else. DG performing their signature counter attack as Daemon Prince, various Blight Drones and Blight Lords combine to take out Custodes. Was pretty easy to pick DG (I'm going to ignore my team mates mocking how often I almost pick something then pick DG in teams), I dilly dallied about what faction to pick for awhile (Nids/Imperial Guard ...
So whose ready for some end of edition crazy power spikes? Originally I had planned to take Nids to the event, but the New C'tan scared me off running them with 30 minutes until the list deadline and I decided to ponder what might be good into them. I wanted a unit that had mass volume of D1 with re-rolls and Blightlords came to mind. Lethals hit ranged attacks with full re-rolls - sign me up. I probably got bit carried away, deliberately forgoing the flails in order to get more bolter shots...was this a mistake, yeah probably but it didn't cost me as the title probably gives away. Custodes and DG battle it out up and Down no mans land as battle lines clash. As for my list - its a pretty standard Vectorium build, the most interesting things is probably the 10 Blightlord brick and the lack of Poxwalkers. The Poxwalkers thing is just a mistake really as a result of finding a 2k list with all the toys I wanted in it and forgetting that holding objectives and infiltrate is reall...
