Renegade Warband got 4-1 at Darksphere GT
More a photo dump than proper blog (mix of lack of sleep/pictures from all games. Ran Renegade Warband to try out the new CSM stuff. List felt good, need extra unit or two (drop Nemesis claw and maybe a Legionaire squad) for bit more stuff as I struggled to initial fights, but then fight was joined the list was very powerful. Went 4-1 with only loss to apparently top ranked Ad Mech player and finished 7th/49 at bottom of 4-1 bracket. Loss to Ad Mech was harder than I'd have liked but playing a real brutal run of lists and games so 4-1 not a bad result at all (4 games in a row against team Sigil was fun but very challenging!)
You'll notice amount of pics decreasing as games go on (along with my mental state!)
My list:
Round 1 v Robert Michell's Deathwatch - Tried to go slow and trade but Vengor launchers spiked hard early and found myself low on stuff quickly. Oblits had a very strong turn 2 combing to take out one of the Fortis kill teams with indirect only to stop some of the bleeding but after Deathwatch's go turn I was in real trouble. Thankfully turn 3 a Noise Marines squad fully buffed and Vindicator took out Indomitor kill team by themself and Huron ran around smashing everything for rest of the game to take the Win 90-59
Round 2 v Chris Wards Astra Militarum - Went second and got alpha struck by guard Taurox to take out a Rhino and keep me back. Tried to stage and took out Leman Russ Exterminator in round 2 and got hit by a brutal turn Kasrkin/Scion attack taking out most/all of my tanks. Had to go full send to try and take things back and thankfully worked well, injuring Dorn and tagging it whilst taking out most of the Scion. Guard couldn't hit back hard enough and Oblits (who had a huge game) and Huron for second time in a row cleaned up to secure the win 94-63.
Round 3 v Matt Puffett's Adepta Sororitas this game started very badly with Matt gaining primary lead and bleeding my trading units again - end of turn 3 Matt was ahead with end game scoring in their favour on Hidden supplies - not a great place to be! Stop me if you heard this before, went all in trying to dislodge the momentum. Huron had a bit of a whiff into 4+ invul Sacresants when they spiked up but Oblits shooting + charging kept picking pieces up. Whilst Vahl secured on flank, Sisters didn't have damage in middle to dislodge CSM and next turn managed to Sister home objective to limit scoring. Ended up 61-33 win for CSM but felt much closer than that (helped by a shocking series of secondary draws for Matt in last 2 turns.)
Round 4 v Samuel Martin's Ad Mech - Game was going to be could I get to the a 10 strong Sicarian Infiltrator/Ruststalker squad before they got to me. Sadly I got out traded early on and had to go in early before softing Ad Mech up enough. It was a bit of a whiff (2 Oblits and Noise Marine shooting killed 2 Rustalker's between them) and whilst even a perfect turn might not have been enough it was bit disheartening! Ad Mech's counter attack was brutal and essentially tabled me bar a few stragglers. 44-72 loss
Round 5 v Edward Hearns Space Wolfs - After showing my list off Edward asked were all my damage was, which is probably a indicator of how some of the CSM units compared to other books (damage not really a problem for CSM, its more resiliance I'd say.) Went second at last which was nice as could avoid 'wasting' units on trading until SW came to me. Picked up bit slice of luck when 2 Repex's failed to kill a Rhino and kept my units safe on right flank for extra turn...only to fail to kill them again next turn as well until the last shot (keeping units inside safe, big guns were pointed elsewere second time.) Was able to keep chipping away on primary as a result and a Huron HI into solo logan to allow them an easy charge into Wulfen on turn 3 swung game very hard CSM away to win 81-55.
Would tweak list to have little more trading but was really fun/strong. Good to see CSM win event with Huron's Maruders as well. Next time - teams!
